The traditional method for learning the Ashtanga practice. During Mysore, students of all levels practice at their own pace and the instructor helps with the postures by means of hands on adjustments while reminding students of sequencing. A Mysore practice is developed slowly over time so that the student is able to memorize sequencing and the body is able to adapt to the postures. A common misconception about the Mysore practice is that you need to know the Primary Series to attend. Appropriate for all levels.

Props and variations of postures combined with simple breathing and meditation techniques to help combat the negative effects of aging, and stress will be emphasized. This class begins with Sun Salutations and breath awareness. Postures flow from one to another fueled by attention to breathing and linking movement with breath. This 90 minute class will be a combination of the first and second series of the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga system. Modifications will be offered to help this practice be assessable to all. This class centers on holding poses for prolonged periods to stretch the connective tissue, specifically ligaments and tendons in the joints and spine. Over time, practice of Yin yoga can lengthen these tissues, increasing range of motion. This practice is done sitting or lying down.
